Hanson Farm Development

posted in: News | 0

The Hanson Farm was purchased in 1941 by Robert Hanson’s parents.  It is a 410-acre farm near Travilah and Quince Orchard Roads and the Hanson family still farms it today.  However they have had plans to develop the property when Robert Hanson passes away.  The entire property is now re-zoned for one acre lots.  That would amount to about 187 houses and townhouses over 170 of the acres.  In a letter to their neighbors dated 30 Oct 2016 the Hansons advised that they have selected Toll Brothers to develop the farm, following the Preliminary Development Plan previously approved in 2010 after local community consultations. Toll Brothers shared their plan with the community at the new North Potomac Community Center on Travilah Road in the evening of Thursday, November 17, 2016.  The photos included in this post now include the approved Montgomery County zoning map and the Illustrative Concept Plan developed by Toll Brothers.  The main entrance to the eventual housing development will be an enhanced roundabout at the intersection of Travilah Road and Turkey Foot Road, and there will be two other entrances along Quince Orchard Road.

The Hanson family members have been incredible stewards of the land and are keeping NPCA apprised of their plans as they move along.  We will keep you posted as well.
