seeing insufficient support among Councilmembers to pass proposed ZTA &#8211; hurriedly gaveled\u00a0lunch adjournment\u00a0<strong><em><u>without\u00a0<\/u><\/em><\/strong>calling for final vote as previously scheduled.\u00a0 Upon returning from lunch break, Mr. Reimer stated intent to\u00a0<em>possibly<\/em> <strong>reschedule\u00a0vote <\/strong>at next Council meeting on Tuesday, October 30, but he\u00a0<u>was not certain<\/u>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Our sincere thanks to\u00a0Council members who\u00a0voted FOR residents&#8217;\u00a0yesterday\u00a0including\u00a0<strong>Tom Hucker<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Roger Berliner,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Sidney Katz<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Marc Elrich<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Nancy Navarro<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>George Leventhal\u00a0<\/strong>by approving first of what would have been several possible amendments, and especially to <strong>Tom Hucker<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Roger Berliner<\/strong>\u00a0for their strong leadership and advocacy on behalf of residents&#8217; concerns.<\/p>\n<p>Hans Reimer, Nancy Floreen and Craig Rice <strong><em><u>were opposed<\/u><\/em> <\/strong>to resident friendly amendment(s).<\/p>\n<p>As an important footnote, Mr. Leventhal pushed stridently for cloture as he expressed strong desire get a ZTA 18-11 passed and to let fundamental issues\u00a0be tested in Court &#8211; NOT more time spent debating.<\/p>\n<p>However, <strong>we emphasize that this is just a delay.<\/strong>\u00a0 ZTA 18-11 is still &#8220;in play.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Council President may bring this final vote!!\u00a0\u00a0We believe County Executive Leggett and his Staff will\u00a0<strong><em><u>pull out all the stops<\/u><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0in the next week to get this passed.<\/p>\n<p>By state law, Montgomery County Council\u00a0<strong><u>must<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0act on all land use matters such as this proposed zoning text amendment\u00a0<em>no later than<\/em>\u00a0Wednesday, October 31, 2018 &#8211; as thereafter Council is &#8220;Lame Duck Session&#8221; awaiting outcome of November 6 General Election and subsequent seating of new Council.<\/p>\n<p>Your expressions of gratitude to the Councilmembers listed above\u00a0who voted FOR residents&#8217;
